Best.Day.Ever.

Outside today it's 4 degrees with a windshield factor of -10 to -20. When I was walking to class earlier my fingers almost fell off, literally... fell off. But despite the cold wind and potential frost bite there's sun in the sky and a smile in my heart because of friends like you. Though you're miles and miles away and we don't speak often I think of you daily and thank God for your friendship every time you come to my mind.
Now that I've got the cheesiness out of the way I can move on to the point of this blog. Although you are in Africa, soaking up the sun and being a blessing to everyone you meet, there are some things that you're missing out on in Iowa. There is no reason why a couple miles and an ocean should keep you from experiencing a little of home while you're in Africa. To catch you up on what you've missed thus far I will summarize the events that have taken place in the past couple weeks. If they aren't significant to you you're going to have to deal with them anyway.
Last week after BASIC there was a trip to B-Dubs. We rung in an estimated 47 people, breaking the record yet again. It was delicious and I ate a wing for you. I also said "hi" to good old CR for you as well. I even hugged the Cedar Rapids sign for you... okay that one was a lie.
It's 24/7 prayer week right now and last night I was assigned the 1-3am spot with the creativity team. I wasn't sure what to expect when I went, but it blew my mind. It was located at La Vida in the room off to the side. Stepping in to the room is just calming. There's music playing softly and art supplies, journals, and sketch pads in the middle that can be used to write down prayers or thoughts. All over the walls there are prayers from people and there is this outline of a tree on one of the walls with thoughts and prayers posted all over inside of it. It's hard to explain but it's amazing. It was like a calm in the midst of chaos.. my words can't really do it justice.
I know that is only two events, but we do live in Iowa so I guess you couldn't expect much. Any time something new comes up I will post it on here and we'll leave the super important stuff for e-mails. I miss you and I love you.
